Another Update!... Kinda.

Hi Everyone,

I'm so sorry about my lack of updates, but if you were wondering what has happened to me I have been in the depths of working on my Family Guy website which will contain all the content that this journal has contained. It actually took me to see someone I didn't even known using the Family Guy + Ah-ha banner I made awhile back to realize... Well, I haven't updated.

So, let me get you caught up a bit. I have just purchased Vol 3 (Which is on sale right now at Target!) and I have bought the movie... Twice, Long story. So I will have reviews on these for you once the website is finished (I hope you all like it...) -- But, for now, I just wanted to let any of you whom are still reading to know that this journal is pretty much dead and will be updated only every so often until the website is launched.

Additionally, Updates on our favorite Animator... Seth is apparently finally made time for a love life and is dating former Bachelor contestant, Anne-Michelle Seiler. Bet you all are thrilled. >>;

Hey all! Since I'm back in the habit of updating... just wanted to let you know that we won't be seeing any new Family Guy or American Dad for awhile. The official sites report that on Sunday night American Dad will be airing again (after weeks of absence) with the Pilot Episode and the last new Family Guy of the season, "Model Misbehavior”.

When do we expect the new season? You can catch them on September 11, 2005. I don't know if American Dad will be returning the same day, but here's for hoping! Long way to wait, but... it's just days away from the release of the Family Guy movie! (September 27)

Additionally, there's word that a book will be released! "Family Guy: The Official Episode Guide: Seasons 1-3", it'll hit stores November 1st!

And Finally, I wanted to update you all on the "Family Union" (incase you guys aren't hearin' much about it) movie. Family Guy and American Dad writers Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman have written the script, Seth is directing, and we can only hope we'll get to see some cameos! The movie is going to be released by Spyglass, no release date so far.

I've heard many things about the movie, like that it's a documentary of Seth MacFarlane's actual family reunion, but according to the plotline on a majority of websites it's more than likely a comedy. Sure, I didn't update you much, but god! I did more than some sites do. *snerk*

Since I haven’t summarized American Dad! And Family Guy for you all, I’m going to type out the article TV Guide did on Family Guy. There’s some amazing stuff in here, including an interview with Rachael, Seth’s sister who talks about him growing up!

Behind the CutCollapse )

Notes: Rachael's name was spelt wrong. In the article, they spelt her name the common way, Rachel. Cut from this was the Can You Guess The Show? section of the article which is just screencaps of Family Guy with various parodies of older TV shows; These included Stanford and Sun, Late Show with David Letterman, That Girl, The Bullwinkle Show, Pee Wee's Playhouse, and Password.

Article was written by Stephen Battaglio and all copyrights belong to TV GUIDE magazine. If you would like to use this type out of the Article on your website, please credit me (Lacie Seiber) and link back to this journal (http://www.livejournal.com/community/sethview/). Thanks!

05/15/05 - Blind Ambition and Francine's Flashback

May. 16th, 2005 | 11:45 am
posted by: ex_macaron519 in sethview

Again, no goodies. I promise I’ll get some together within the next few days if I’m not busy with Star Wars costuming. So! Let’s get back to it!

Blind Ambition
After Quagmire mistakenly saves a woman and becomes a hero, Peter becomes jealous and decided to find something that will make him remembered. His plan? To eat the most nickels EVER… The fall? Well, Peter gets nickel poisoning.

This was the greatest episode thus far, and it really made up for last weeks’ subpar plot. We finally get to see the Spooner St Gang, and there’s a great bit with Quagmire spying (and getting caught) on Lois in the bathroom. Not to mention the return of the Giant Chicken!

Ugh, there are just too many great moments to list! One of the best moments definitely was Peter calling out Bonnie on being “pregnant for six freakin’ years”. Big laughs on the Chicken fight, of course, Blind Peter in bed with Chris (and then Stewie), and the wet cheerleaders making out in the pond (randomly, while Quagmire was trying to change his ways) was great. But above all, the greatest scene was the ending… The ‘A New Hope’ spoof on the ending, including music AND Chewie was just too good to be true.

I’m so glad that Family Guy has redeemed itself.

Memorable Line: "First off, Bonnie, you've been pregnant for six freakin' years already!"

Francine’s Flashback:
After forgetting their anniversary (Again), Stan has the last 20 hours erased from Francine’s memories. Mistakenly, the man running the machine erases 20 years, and Francine is stuck in 1985! Can Stan reawaken Francine’s memories by repeating what made them fall in love?

GREAT EPISODE! I thought I was lucky with a good Family Guy, but this was just amazing. High points include the Raccoon chase (reminiscent of the original and new Chicken Fight on Family Guy), and the Ariel scene! This episode was just too great!

American Dad has definitely been keeping me happy, and I have a lot of hope for this show. Not many people like it, but it’s definitely a great show!

Memorable Line: "Your boyfriend stole my wife! Let's get back at them by dating each other! Wait a minute. Daddy didn't think that through."

Scores: Family Guy – 5/5. American Dad – 4/5.
Tonight’s Winner? Family Guy

05/08/05 - Fast Times at Buddy Cianci High and Stan Knows Best

No goodies from last week’s episode yet, so let’s get right to it!

Fast Times at Buddy Cianci High
The plot is simple enough; Chris has a crush on his new teacher and is nearly seduced into helping her murder her husband. With Drew Barrymore to lend her voice as Mrs. Lockhart, you’d assume the episode would be great, right?

Well… In my honest opinion, it’s one of the lowest on the favorites list of the series. The plot wasn’t great, and it couldn’t keep my interest too long. I sat through the whole episode, but the laughs were few and far apart.

In fact, I think I laughed at The Simpsons more than I did at this episode, and that’s rare. But! I’m not going to shame this episode entirely; the Wonder Twins scene was great! “Form of Jayna’s Tampon!” and The OZ skit!

Memorable Line: “Yeah, well, whatever helps you sleep at night… bitch.”

Stan Knows Best
After dying her hair green, Hayley gets her head shaved by Stan and now has to wear a wig. Angry, she defies her father by moving in with her boyfriend in his van and begins to work at a strip club to support herself and her new life. Featuring Voices from Sarah Silverman (Crank Yankers) and Zooey Deschanel (Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy).

Simply put? The episode was great, especially after the disappointment of Family Guy this week. Plus, it showed how much Stan loved his daughter, no matter how different they are.

High point moments? Definitely the Vegetable scene!

Memorable Line: “Want me to make you happy with my mouth?”

Scores: Family Guy – 2/5. American Dad – 4/5.
Tonight’s Winner? American Dad

05/01/05 - North by North Quahog and Threat Levels

May. 1st, 2005 | 10:00 pm

It’s been said that Fox declared they’d never put Family Guy back on the air. Well, after making millions in DVD sales and proving its staying power with excellent ratings on Adult Swim, Seth MacFarlane is back on Fox. And not just with Family Guy, but also a new show, American Dad!

sethview is here to recap each week’s Family Guy and American Dad! - To give one person’s opinion on the highs and the lows, the greatest lines, and maybe even offer some goodies and news on the man behind the shows, Seth MacFarlane.

So, without further ado, I give you…

North by North Quahog
We sat anxiously, waiting for the start of the very first new Family Guy episode… And it was well worth the wait. Peter started off the episode with an announcement of the show’s being canceled, then continues on to say that if ‘fine programming’ such as Firefly, Dark Angel, and Wanda At Large (to name VERY FEW) are canceled, they may have a chance of returning.

The plot was somewhat boring, but the return of many small characters with the likes of The Evil Monkey, Ollie Williams, Herbert the Pervert, and The Greased-Up Deaf Guy. Other high points include the GI Joe scene, Stewie spanking Chris, and the trailer for The Passion of The Christ 2.

All in all, it wasn’t the best episode, but it was a great way to return!

Memorable Line: “Good to be back, America! See ya’ll next week!”

Threat Levels
Francine gets a job as a real estate agent and Stan begins to feel emasculated by her earning power. After taking over Steve’s “Bum fights” movie empire, Stan begins to redeem himself. Now that you have the gist of the plot, what about the episode itself?

Not many people like American Dad, but I love it! The episode was great, and lives up to Family Guy’s legend. Some of my favorite moments included anything involving the Smith Family dying and Roger remodeling the house “Dimmer Switches!~ What? Too Fabulous for you?” and the “You’re Fired!” scenes with Donald Trump.

I have great expectations for American Dad! regardless of what anyone else says, it’s a great show!

Memorable Line: “That's passive past tense, Trump! You don't own that!”

Scores: Family Guy – 4/5. American Dad – 4/5.
Tonight’s Winner? It’s a Tie.
